We are a community based program with dual accreditation by the ACGME and ACOME. Allopathic residents are included in our curriculum in osteopathic skills.

Our affiliation with the University of Illinois medical school gives our residents opportunities to teach and serve as mentors for medical students.

Our program is relatively unopposed by other training programs which could interfere with residents’ experience (the only other residency at Carle is Internal Medicine with which we collaborate in the inpatient setting. This collaboration strengthens our inpatient teaching program).

Our hospital is very Family Medicine friendly yet is a very sophisticated tertiary referral center for the region with strengths in emergency medicine/trauma, obstetrics, and pediatric subspecialties.

We are a small program able to give personal attention to our trainees with much one-on-one teaching due to our favorable faculty to resident ratio.
