How Do We Track Resident Performance?

We have developed an Award-winning process to track performance through the three years of residency. This process is based on separate grades for the six competencies of the ACGME which are:

  1. Medical Knowledge
  2. Patient Care
  3. Professionalism
  4. Practice-based Learning
  5. Systems-based Practice
  6. Interpersonal and Communication Skills

In addition, we have determined that certain procedures are equally important and thus are individually graded.
For Osteopathic residents, OMT is considered separately and feedback and performance goes towards that grade.

Residents meet regularly with an assigned faculty advisor who gives them an assessment of where they are going with their grade. This feedback allows residents to correct deficiencies and be aware of what they are doing well.
