A Word From the Director

Thank you for your interest in the Geriatrics Fellowship program at Carle Foundation Hospital. We carry forth the Carle mantle of pride in our medical excellence. To seek a fellowship in geriatrics one must have a commitment to community and to personalized patient interaction. A passion for medicine must be mixed with compassion for the elderly and the chronically-ill.

With the aging of the Baby Boomers, the future of medicine will be rooted in geriatrics. However, do not let the potential for job security guide your decision. While medicine teaches practicalities, the choice to enter geriatrics must come from your heart. This is not the specialty for the impatient physician. The elderly patient requires a great deal of your time.

Our program fosters this distinctive physician/patient relationship. Should you choose a geriatric fellowship I guarantee you this time will be richly and rewardingly spent.
