Testimony
“The geriatrics team at
Carle Foundation Hospital is dedicated
to the care of the aging population.
I became interested in geriatric
medicine when I was a Family Medicine
resident and rotated through geriatric
medicine. Carle’s geriatric
team is affiliated with busy subacute
units and the faculty has a wealth
of experience working with and
caring for our older population.
Working daily with faculty who
serve as medical directors of
nursing homes, fellows gain excellent
exposure to long-term care. I
am pleased and privileged to be
part of one of the best geriatrics
teams in the Midwest.”

Testimony
"My experience with the Geriatric Medicine service began while I was a
second year resident with the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. My
first impression of Dr. Peter and her dedication to her patients motivated me to
seek her advice and help for a future career by the time I was ready for
graduation.
Once I became a Geriatric fellow, the only word that comes in mind to describe
the program is family. I feel that the year I spent with this service is among
the most rewarding ones of my life.
The clinical and ancillary staff members were always very supportive,
synergistic and open. The clinical experience I gained working under the
constant direct supervision of the program and assistant program director
ensured that my level of training was beyond my expectations.
More importantly, I felt that the camaraderie with the attending staff, my
co-fellow and the program coordinator made the time go by almost too fast."

Testimony
"Carle Foundation Hospital’s Geriatrics fellowship program is one of the best programs I have known. I was offered a fellowship in other programs, but when I learned that Carle was also interested in me, I jumped at the opportunity. After my initial interview, I had a very positive first impression of the staff at Carle and the Geriatric Department. Dr. Peter, Dr. Oluwehinmi, and Dr. Barker provided me with multiple learning opportunities during my fellowship year. This fellowship experience made me realize just how valuable the role of a Geriatrician is. I really enjoyed working with the elderly and decided to expand my knowledge and experience by further advancing my career as a Geriatrician. I joined the team of Geriatricians at Carle Clinic and am very pleased with my decision. The affiliation with Family Medicine Residency and interactions with their faculty in rotations and conferences is another great learning experience. The Fellowship Program Coordinator, Star Andrews, is always willing to help the fellows arrange an appropriate rotation, even with a last minute notice.
I am very happy with my decision to come to Carle for my Geriatric Fellowship training. It is a wonderful place to practice medicine while expanding knowledge and experience."
