Department of Clinical Effectiveness and Outcome Management
Carle Foundation demonstrates its continued emphasis on
providing the highest quality and safest patient care in the region through
supporting the Department of Clinical Effectiveness and Outcome Management. The
Department of Clinical Effectiveness and Outcome Management has a staff of 7
full time employees who provide a wide variety of quality services to the
Foundation (Hospital and other strategic business units) and contracted services
to Carle Clinic Association. Services provided include but are not
limited to:
- Facilitation of Performance Improvement (PI) teams
- Coordination of Patient Safety activities including:
- Root Cause Analysis
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Education and awareness
- Coordination of quality / performance improvement initiatives
- Management of the Peer Review process
- Facilitation of the Quality Reviews / Morbidity and Mortality Reviews in
a variety of clinical areas.
- Quality indicator monitoring, benchmarking and reporting to numerous
internal and external databases including but not limited to Joint
Commission, CMS,
AHA, State of Illinois, NRMI, STS, NCNQ, Perspectives On-line, Press Ganey
- Clinical data analysis
- Provide staff support and education on quality and patient safety issues
- Provide quality / patient safety resources to numerous standing and ad
hoc committees
- Provide assistance with research projects
The Department of Clinical Effectiveness and Outcome
Management works closely with Patient Care
Services, Risk Management, Pharmacy and the Medical Staff to promote continuous
performance improvement in clinical and non-clinical areas, patient safety,
customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance. The department reports
routinely to the Clinical Improvement Committee, Performance Management Council
and the Board Foundation Quality Committee which provide oversight of quality
and patient safety for the Carle Foundation.
