Carle’s smoking policy reflects its mission of improving
the health of the people of east central Illinois. As of September 1, 2004, all
Carle buildings and grounds are smoke-free.
This policy means that patients, visitors, volunteers and
employees are not able to smoke anywhere (inside or outside) on any Carle
property or at any facility that we lease, including:

while you are at Carle Foundation Hospital, please contact your primary
healthcare provider. Nicotine replacement products are available at most area
pharmacies.

Champaign County
The Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department offers “Freedom From Smoking,” a
unique seven-week program from the American Lung Association. The cost is
$10.00 per person. The fee includes program materials and the cost of four

Coles County
Offers “Freedom From Smoking,” a unique seven-week program from the
American Lung Association. It is free. To register call Julie Dryden at

Dewitt-Piatt Counties
The DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department offers “Freedom From Smoking,” a
unique seven-week program from the American Lung Association. The class is
free for all DeWitt-Piatt County residents. For more information or to

Douglas County
The Douglas County Health Department offers a smoking cessation class. It is
a six-week program in which many different techniques are explored to help
smokers quit. The nicotine patch is also offered to anyone who may need it.

Edgar County
Paris Community Hospital offers “Freedom From Smoking,” a unique seven-week
program from the American Lung Association. The cost is $25. To register

Ford County
The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department is offering smoking cessation
coupons in the amount of $20 for smokers who are interested in “kicking the
habit.” Most pharmacies in the area have agreed to accept the coupons and
will take $20 off of any cessation product that the consumer selects as a
means to quit smoking. For more information, contact Julie Clark, tobacco

McLean County
BroMenn Healthcare offers a one-session program through its respiratory
therapy department. Come to this class and learn about a variety of smoking
cessation techniques, ranging from going cold turkey to using one of the
nicotine aides available today. The class includes coping strategies and
where to go for help and support. The risks associated with smoking are also
discussed. The class fee is $10. For more information call (309) 268-5900.
OSF Center for Healthy Lifestyles offers “Freedom from Smoking” from the
American Lung Association. This seven-week clinic will help you become
smoke-free and stay smoke-free. Sessions are held at OSF St. Joseph Medical
Center. Cost is $99. A $25 refund will be given to those who attend all
seven sessions. To register, please call toll free (888) 6-ASK OSF

The McLean County Health Department offers educational materials regarding
smoking cessation.
Vermillion County
Smoking cessation classes are offered on an ongoing basis at the Danville
facility, at worksites and those locations across Vermilion County. Sessions
last for 4 weeks. Free patches are provided to those needing them who
complete the classes. Classes are free, but you must register. You can call
