Low Vision Center at the Lois L. Deicke House for Visual RehabilitationThe Carle Low Vision Center at the Lois L. Deicke House for Visual Rehabilitation is a place that helps clients adapt to vision loss while enhancing their remaining vision. Services offered at the Center include:
Many clients have vision loss that cannot be treated with surgery or medicine. This program focuses on ways for individuals to compensate by adapting their environment. The Carle Low Vision Center is located in a low-vision adapted house adjacent to Carle Foundation Hospital. The Center demonstrates how the use of lighting, adaptive devices, color and contrast can make any room and its contents safer and more accessible to those with visual impairments. Clients can test, and see first-hand how a home can be adapted for low vision needs before they make a major purchase or undertake remodeling projects. Medicare, Medicaid, your HMO or private insurer may reimburse the fees for many of low vision services when they are requested by a physician. Contact the center at (217)383-6033 for more information. Many low vision adaptive devices are available at the Center. Call (217) 383-6033 for more information. Carle Low Vision Center
