Electrophysiology Services (EP)

Carle offers the region's most advanced Electrophysiology (EP) Clinic. Electrophysiology is a subspecialty of cardiology that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of irregular heartbeats. Arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, make the heart beat too fast or too slow and can be fatal conditions. The Electrophysiology division of Carle Heart Center provides a wide array of advanced diagnostic and treatment options for conditions that deal with the electrical mechanisms in the heart and how they make the heart function. With expertise and the latest technology, Carle offers patients the possibility of curing some types of arrhythmias permanently.

EP Diagnostics

Carle offers a complete spectrum of non-invasive and invasive electrophysiology diagnostic tests and provides a wide array of treatment options for conditions that deal with the electrical mechanisms in the heart.

EP Treatment

Each year, the Carle EP Team performs 250 RF ablations and 150 device implants for patients diagnosed with abnormal heart rhythms and other electrophysiology problems.

Abraham Kocheril, MD

Abraham Kocheril provides complete cardiac care to patients at The Carle Heart Center and Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana and offers his expertise to BroMenn Healthcare in Bloomington-Normal through Carle’s Visiting Specialist program.  Dr. Kocheril is nationally recognized for his research in radiofrequency ablation, a new therapy used to treat several types of heart rhythm disturbances.  Dr. Kocheril is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialty boards of Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. 

Soliman A. Soliman, MD

Dr. Soliman provides complete cardiac care for his patients at The Carle Heart Center and Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana and serves the Decatur community at Decatur Memorial Hospital as part of Carle’s Visiting Specialist program.  Dr. Soliman is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and its subspecialty board of Cardiovascular Disease and has additional expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, artificial pacemakers, implantable defibrillators and radiofrequency ablation.
