Carle Clinic, Hospital Celebrate 75
Years
URBANA-This year marks the
75th
Anniversary of Carle Clinic
Association and Carle Foundation
Hospital. In 1931, after studying at
Mayo Clinic, J.C. Thomas Rogers, MD,
and Hugh L. Davison, MD, created
Carle Hospital Clinic, the area’s
first multi-specialty group practice
with an integrated hospital, and
began to build a place where medical
excellence and advanced healthcare
could be delivered to the entire
community.
The theme for the year-long
celebration is “Friends to the
Community for
75
Years.”
“We are proud
that Carle Clinic has grown to be
one of the largest physician-owned
groups in the nation. There are
more than 300 doctors practicing
here and more than 50 medical and
surgical specialties and
subspecialties,” says Bruce Wellman,
MD, Carle Clinic Association CEO.
“Through our network of 10 branch
clinics, Carle Clinic strives to
meet the needs of patients
throughout east central Illinois
with
superior care.”
Carle
Foundation Hospital is a 295-bed
tertiary care facility comprised of
more than 25 departments, including
surgical and cardiac intensive care
units, the region’s only Co-Perinatal
Center, and the region’s only Level
I Trauma Center.
Carle
Foundation Hospital President and
CEO, James C. Leonard, MD explains
further, “Our vision here is to
continue to lead healthcare in
central Illinois and throughout the
Midwest. We look forward to creating
advances in medicine at Carle
Foundation Hospital through
continuing our relationship with
Carle Clinic and new partnerships
with the University of Illinois.
Carle Clinic
Association and Carle Foundation
Hospital operate the Carle Cancer
Center, the Carle Heart Center,
which is ranked among the nation’s
top 100, and the Carle Spine
Institute, the only
multidisciplinary spine center in
the region to offer comprehensive
spine care at one location.
Carle patients
have access to a variety of
specialty care and advanced
procedures right in their own
backyard. Carle Clinic Association
and Carle Foundation Hospital
continue to garner national
recognition for achievement.
