Carle Clinic has pioneered many firsts throughout its 75 years of existence.  The latest innovation of that pioneer spirit is the new podcast, Carlecast.

Podcasting is a term used to describe a collection of audio or video programs distributed over the internet. Essentially, a podcast enables producers to create self-published, syndicated "radio shows." Carlecast is a regularly published podcast, found here at www.carlecast.com, consisting of physician interviews on medical topics focusing on education, information and entertainment. Any digital audio player or computer with audio-playing software can play the podcast

At Carlecast.com world-class specialists — leaders in their respective fields — discuss the most critical questions facing medicine today.  The first podcast of its kind, Carlecast.com invites everyone to enjoy the same clinical and scientific insights physicians share colleague to colleague.

Here at CarleCast, you can listen to our audio podcasts in a few different ways:

To listen to any podcast from the home page, click on the "Listen" button. This will play the audio on your computer using Quicktime or Windows Media Player. You can also click on the "More Options" button and listen to the podcast using Javascript, download the mp3 file and read a portable
document file formatted transcript. You can also download a PDF transcript of each Carlecast podcast
to keep for reading at your leisure.

Downloading the Mp3 file to your computer makes it easy to transfer the file to a portable music
player, such as an iPod, and listen to Carlecast and other podcasts on the go.  You may also
download the Mp3 file and listen on your computer at your convenience.

Podcasting has quickly become one of the most innovative ways for news, information, commentary
and opinion to be spread on the internet.  In the future, many familiar radio shows may move to this format and already many celebrities, politicians and business people such as former MTV VJ Adam Curry, comedian Ricky Gervais, Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino and a host of others are using the format to get their messages across.
